June 2024: Maramataka Matariki
Te Ataarangi Matariki Calendar 2024-25
It was a great honour to participate in the group kaupapa Ki te Ohu Weka 2024 led by Mat Tait and Robin Slow at Onetahua Marae between December 2023 and February 2024. The theme was wai or water. All the artworks in the calendar were produced by a process so that the kaupapa is truly a team effort. The exhibition of artworks Ki te Ohu Weka 2024 is showing at ArtVault Tākākā in June/July 2024 and at Refinery ArtSpace in Nelson from 17 July with opening Friday 19 July 2024 at 5pm.

Art is a gateway to reality. Art gives me access to the unknown and intangible and it has enabled me to communicate in ways that were never possible with words and numbers.
I paint abstract and figurative works inspired by nature, landscapes, buildings, people and maps. I think about colour interactions and movement. And I'm really interested in painting multiple layers which represent to me the influences of personal experience, economic, cultural and social factors which make us who we are and inform our perceptions and interactions.
In November 2021 I returned to Aotearoa after twenty years living in London, St Albans and Melbourne.

I am very excited to announce a guest exhibition of old and new works at the incredible Hidden Sculpture Garden and Gallery near Tapawera / Kohatu Junction in the southern part of Tasman District. Many thanks to Rachel and David Carson for showing my work. For anyone passing that way I highly recommend a visit - the sculpture garden is brilliantly fun and thought provoking.
